I would imagine that the artist(s) that made this video had an idea for what they wanted to happen, but then let their environment and creative processes bring it in new directions as they worked.

1 - D. Fried: What is art?
Art is the pursuit of a vision. Rather than blindly altering, adding, and deleting elements until something has been arrived at that resembles art, true art must come from a vision. This is not to say that the final piece must exactly match the original vision, the process is as much the art as the final piece, but the process must be born of an initial conception or vision of what the artist is attempting to create.
